It seems lately I'm only writing tributes, but today's is a little different.
The world lost a true American hero today in Senator John S. McCain.
His honor, bravery, heroism, and true love of his country overshadow any political differences I had with him or that most had.
It's with great irony that he died on the same date at one of his best friends, Senator Ted Kennedy, did nine years earlier.
He also died at the same age of his own father.
Thank you, Senator, for 60 years of service to it our country.
My warmest regards go to his wife and family and to his mother, who is 106 years old.
May you rest in peace.

Rest in Peace, The Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin
The world lost a trailblazer in women in entertainment and for people of color.
Aretha didn't think of herself as having done much for the Civil Rights movement, but her visibility and her music helped to provide a backdrop and acceptance.
On a personal note, I'm posting the video linked below as my Queen, the Queen of Pop, Rock & Soul Miss Patti LaBelle, pays tribute from a few years back to Queen Aretha.
May she rest in peace.
